Desi Arnaz
Desi Arnaz was born in Santiago, Cuba, on March 2, 1917. His father, the city's mayor, was imprisoned and lost everything during the 1933 revolution. The family fled to Miami, where Desi took odd jobs, including cleaning canary cages. He later formed a band and was hired by Latin music legend Xavier Cugat.
